Welcome to Christ Church
Edde Cross Street, Ross-on-Wye, HR9 7BZ

(A Methodist - United Reformed Church Local Ecumenical Partnership)

Ross Meeting Centre held a  pre - Christmas Celebration with a visit from Phil's puppets ( thanks also to Caroline). The puppets performed the story of the 'angry innkeeper ', and then everyone joined in with songs and practised their ' puppet skills'.

A delicious buffet lunch was provided by Ross on Wye Co op, and we finished the day with carols and readings by the tree, led by Eleanor. We were joined by several old friends and members of Christ Church swelled the singing.

Our first meeting of 2019 involves a visit to the Dementia Friendly performance of ' Peter Pan' at the Courtyard Theatre, and our regular meetings start up again on January 16th.

Our Mission Satement

“Our mission, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is to make the good news about Jesus known, to enable people to grow in their faith, to serve our local community, to stand against injustice and to look after God’s wonderful creation”.

Situated in the heart of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Beauty we are known for our warm welcome and desire for people to feel at home.

Being a Local Ecumenical Project with the United Reformed Church adds another dimension to our thinking, experiences, and worship.  We are an active member of Churches Together in Ross & District and our 2 house groups that meet for Bible study & prayer are ecumenical.

Part of our outreach is to those older folk who live alone for whom we provide a monthly lunch and companionship. We also regularly welcome visitors from a local hotel, Merton House, which caters for people with disabilities.

This meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10am at Christ Church.

Lent 2019 there are two walks linked to pilgrimages to local "hidden"
churches in the county - see the Pilgrim Line details here.

Pilgrim Line

Christ Church Pilgrims

On Sunday 10th March we begin our special Lent Pilgrimage.

On each Sunday leading to Easter (April 21st) the worship theme takes people on a journey through modern Israel and the West Bank. The congregation will trace the places Jesus visited through visuals, drama and music.

The series written by the Revd Glyn Jenkins follows previous “Pilgrim Line” journeys. We can expect different ways of worship, new, interesting experiences,  and a fresh look at the familiar stories. The series is grounded in Celtic spirituality and has special mention of the Corrymeela Community in Northern Ireland on March 17th.  Pilgrim Line takes people from the Judean wilderness, through Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee to the Syrian border in the north to the Jordan rift valley leading south to Jericho and Jerusalem.

On Thursday 14th March the church walking group will take a pilgrim walk from Skenfrith to the unused church of Llanrothal  ( SN6 6QY)  Any local friends wishing to join the short walk should be at the Skenfrith  layby by 10.30am. Christ Church welcomes all who wish to journey with them over Lent.
