Dementia Carer Finalist at Hereford Times ‘Health and Social Care Awards’ 2018

Members of Ross Meeting Centre were thrilled to be nominated by Dr Simon Lenanne of Alton Street Surgery, for the Dementia Carer Category of the Hereford Times ‘Health and Social Care Awards 2018’.
The nomination recognised the work of the Centre over the last 18 months –

‘The Ross Meeting Centre is a real trailblazer in dementia care in both Herefordshire and the UK as a whole. It provides a space for people with dementia and their carers to spend quality time together in a supportive and caring environment. The focus is on having fun with loved ones, turning on its head the idea that respite day care is a place where someone is left safely for a few hours.
The centre is also hugely beneficial for carers, as they can meet up, share advice and offer mutual support.’

Anne Parsons, Centre Administrator says” We could hardly believe it when we were chosen as one of three finalists in this group and invited to attend the presentation ceremony at Lyde Arundel, Hereford on Tuesday 18th September, where around 200 people were entertained and dined.
Although we did not win in our group we feel immensely proud that our work has been recognised, particularly the time and commitment of our volunteers and thanks to the wonderful people who come each week to share their lives with us.”  You can read more here.

Our Mission Satement

“Our mission, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is to make the good news about Jesus known, to enable people to grow in their faith, to serve our local community, to stand against injustice and to look after God’s wonderful creation”.

Situated in the heart of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Beauty we are known for our warm welcome and desire for people to feel at home.

Being a Local Ecumenical Project with the United Reformed Church adds another dimension to our thinking, experiences, and worship.  We are an active member of Churches Together in Ross & District and our 2 house groups that meet for Bible study & prayer are ecumenical.

Part of our outreach is to those older folk who live alone for whom we provide a monthly lunch and companionship. We also regularly welcome visitors from a local hotel, Merton House, which caters for people with disabilities.
